Kingston Black cider apple

Kingston Black is an important English cider apple variety. Is probably named after the village of Kingston, near Taunton, Somerset, England.

The variety is not easy to grow, as it is susceptible to scab and other diseases, but it is regarded as one of England's most valuable cider varieties.

The fruit is medium to small. The color is dark red. The flesh is red to white. The flavor is mild bitter tart.

Kingston Black is a vintage variety, which means that there can be made a fine balanced cider of this variety alone. Matures in November.
